Hilltop Church of God of Kirbyville, Missouri had its first service on July 10, 1988 with Brother Bob Fausett as pastor. The church not being able to find a building to rent, conducted services in a tent borrowed from the pastor’s brother. The tent was set up next door to the Hilltop Service Station. Electricity and bathroom facilities were made available to the church free of charge from the Argo’s owners of the station.
Property was purchased one block west of the station. This was the beginning of a very busy time. We conducted services, had souls saved, hosted a baby shower, and a bridal shower, in the seven weeks we were in the tent. The church during this time was working to clear property for the Mobile Chapel that was made available to us from the Church of God Headquarters. The chapel became our home until the basement of our church was completed.
When we were able to move into the basement we were very thankful for all of the room! We used the fellowship hall as our sanctuary, and of course we had the eight Sunday school rooms, kitchen, and bathrooms. This was our facilities until God blessed us to finish the church and build the top sanctuary.
The top of our church was finished and dedicated April 10, 1994. We are very thankful for this building the Lor has blessed us with. We Since then added on a 24×48 foot kitchen, with a 24×48 foot Youth Room on top. The youth room is now in use!
We now have a Youth Camp, which has been in progress for the last ten years. God has also blessed us with a Bible College, Hilltop Church Of God Midwest College Of Theology. We are now starting our third year and we are very excited about what God is doing in our church. May we the congregation of Hilltop Church of God never forget how God has blessed us, and may we be busy with the anointing He spoke of in Luke 4:18. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” Our prayer is “Use us Lord for your glory here at Hilltop”.
